Elevator Etiquette

For those situations when you find yourself in a building with more than one elevator

Next to each elevator, you will find two buttons from which you can summon the elevator. Pressing the top button indicates you wish to go up. Selecting the lower button indicates you wish to descend. Chose your direction by selecting one of these buttons.
Above each elevator are two lights. After step 1. either the top or bottom light will illuminate indicating which direction the elevator is moving, and which elevator is responding to your summons.
Proceed to the elevator that is responding and stand several paces back from in front of the doors.
When the doors open wait for any passengers to disembark
Enter the elevator (only after everyone disembarking has cleared off), select the floor you wish to go to, and press the door close button (if you are the last to enter).
Enjoy your ride

If you fail to abide by step 3. don’t be surprised when the people already on the elevator press the door close button and depart without you.

If you fail to abide by step 4, don’t be surprised when people trying to exit the elevator comment on your ignorance.
